Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on the 26th of March in 1991. She is an American artist and songwriter, as well as the first artist to be signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. The label released her first EP, Pho, in October 2016 where she started to get recognition. Her debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7 2019. Ari Lennox released her songs online in 2012, when she dropped her Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The singer continued uploading her music online in 2014 and released her own single Bound. On 21st of July 2015, Omen featured her on Elephant Eyes song"Sweat It Out. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville team at the time was interested in having her create Rihanna references. It was announced on December 8 that she had signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat was a track was written by her and Cozz for the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II. On October 21, 2016 her debut EP was released, titled Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change and was an opening act on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018 she went on to be a guest on two of her songs along with labelmates EarthGang in Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. On the 16th of July in 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream on her first album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video, which was released on September 5. Then on November 9 the singer released two new singles, forty Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. The 13th of November, she dropped two singles titled One and Pedigree. One or Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released in her debut single February 26, 2019 for the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby performed with Cole on her Creed II sound track on the 16th of November. A music video debuted on 20 February 2019 in conjunction with the song. Within a time, it was viewed more than 3 million views. In December 2018 she performed on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour, which featured 6LACK.
