She was a singer, performer and designer and broke barriers in the world of music. She was an Mexican American singer who was both traditional and modern. She united both worlds and brought Tejano music into mainstream culture. The same way many people mourn a star who has died far too early, her passing was not a good time and ended the progress of her career. Over the years, the fans became inspired to work even harder in order to ensure that her successes would not fade away. Selena was the Tejano artist who was tragically shot to death by a gunshot accident sparked a Latino response that could be likened to the reaction to the deaths of Elvis Presley and John Lennon's death. The singer was extremely popular within Latino communities throughout North America her music crossed borders of culture to impact people young and old alike. Selena might have been described by many as a Latina Madonna, however she's still a fantastic role model. Selena's family values off stage and her participation in AIDS awareness efforts make her a good example.
